Stockings better than pantyhose?

Diana Crabtree has her top 10 reason she prefers to slip into stocking than pantyhose. The top 5 according to her are:

5. Using less fabric is better for the environment

4. There is no waistband to roll down, creating a sexy "Muffin Top" look.

3. If you think someone is cute, you can spread your knees apart 11 inches, and flick your tongue like Gene Simmons. (The seam of pantyhose would ruin the effect, and lets face it, would be trashy)

2. You can use the bathroom without praying that you don't snag them while pulling them up and down.

And the number one reason stockings are better than pantyhose...

Chubby calves?

No problem. It's all about balance and showing off your assets. Not every style of skirt suits every type of leg. Life would be boring if everyone was the same. If you're a bit wider at the bottom of your leg choose a skirt that widens at the hem to make your calves look slimmer in comparison. avoid something that's going to cling and going to be like a big arrow pointing to the bit you want to hide. Miniskirts a short history

The miniskirt first appeared in the 60s. Since the 20s designers have been raising the hemline of skirts with the mini-skirt showing up in the 60s. Mary Quant is often credited with introducing the with André Courrèges often credited as well.

A miniskirt's hem lies high up the leg above the knee showing off a lot of leg. The originator, Mary Quant first sold the minis from her Kings Road shop "Bazzzaar" where its popularity spread and it became a fashion icon. Tights or pantyhose allowed the miniskirt to realise its full potential. Without them it was either bare legs (or if you have a tan) or stockings. Stocking tops on show aren't going to win anyone a style award. Tights gave a smooth line under the skirt and didn't run the risk or ending before your skirt starts.

After a lengthening of skirts in the 70s, legs were back on show in the 90s with the mini paired with with the business suit and more recently over leggings or jeans.

What not to wear with your miniskirt

So you've got a gorgeous skirt, show it and your legs by paying attention to
what's going on around it.

Boots can look very sexy and draw the eye up the leg. Any boot that ends half way up your thigh belongs in a specialist shop and those furry things belong in the bin. Keep it simple and elegant.

When the sun's out get your legs out too. Going bare is cooler and sexy. Make sure they're smooth and tanned. The streaky sun in a bottle look 'aint that hot though.

Leggings revived the miniskirt giving it a trendy look and a tad warmer on those cold days.

Then there's always the classic option; tights / pantyhose. A patterned pair add interest below the waist, though if you don't the slimmest of legs the extra detail may exaggerate the width so stick with solid shades.

Remember your knickers, you don't want a big ridge where your undies end. A thong or boxer type will keep things smooth and people will be looking at your bum for the right reason.
